Affiliated with HCA, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services with 165 hospitals and 115 freestanding surgery centers in 20 states and England, Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education is an AOA accredited consortium comprised of five different programs based out of four acute care inpatient hospitals.
With over thirty years of experience, our consortium has gained national recognition, and with over 1,000 beds and more than 125,000 ER visits, we now have 124 accredited positions. PBCGME is a primary core training affiliate of Nova Southeastern University and the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences

Our program provides opportunities for residents to work as a part of collaborative health care teams, and helps them develop clinical acumen using advanced techniques and leading-edge technology working in state-of-the art facilities throughout the South Florida area.
This program is run as a fellowship to the Internal Medicine Residency program at PBCGME/West Palm Hospital, with continuity of care clinics at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.
Under the direction of PBCGME Graduate, Dr. Thomas Matese, this program is based out of PBCGME/St. Lucie Medical Center.
Under the direction of PBCGME’s first Family Medicine chief resident, Dr. Mariaelena Caraballo, this program is based out of PBCGME/St. Lucie Medical Center with a modern continuity of care clinic located on the hospital’s campus.
The Charles I. Schulman, DO Residency in Internal Medicine is based out of PBCGME/West Palm Hospital.
Our Pediatrics residency is based out of Children’s Hospital at PBCGME/Palms West Hospital, with outside rotations at Plantation General Hospital.
This program is based out of PBCGME/University Hospital.
PBCGME is accredited for a rotating internship, emphasizing medicine and surgery, at PBCGME/St. Lucie Medical Center.
